Hi @billrotecki1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP LaserJet M110w printer's paper sensor is not reading paper correctly, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions

  • Inspect the input tray: Ensure there are no jammed or misaligned papers.
  • Clear out the paper path: Even small bits of paper can trigger the sensor issue.
  • Remove and reinsert paper: Take out the paper, fan it slightly, and reinsert it properly.

2. Clean the Paper Sensor

  • Dust and dirt can block the paper sensor. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the paper feed area and the sensor.

3. Check Paper Type and Quality

  • Use recommended paper: Make sure you’re using paper within the printer's supported range (weight and size).
  • Avoid wrinkled or damaged paper: Damaged or low-quality paper can prevent the sensor from detecting it correctly.

4. Reset the Printer

  • Power off: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect and power on: Plug it back in and see if the sensor starts working correctly.

5. Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve sensor detection issues. Download and install the latest firmware from the HP Support website.

6. Printer Self-Diagnostic

  • Run a diagnostic test if your printer allows it. This could help identify whether the sensor is malfunctioning.

7. Service or Replacement

  • If the issue persists after trying these steps, the paper sensor might be defective.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
