@Emilia_A_K, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP printer model, similar to the HP Deskjet series, is making a strange noise when loading paper, it might be due to a carriage stall or a paper jam. Here are steps to help resolve this issue:

Turn the Printer On:

  • Open the top cover of your printer. Ensure that the carriage moves to the center of the printer.

Unplug the Power Cable:

  • If the carriage isn't centered, unplug the cable from the back of the printer.

Check for Broken Parts:

  • Remove the cartridges and inspect the inside of the printer for any broken parts.

Manual Carriage Adjustment:

  • If necessary, manually slide the carriage to the center. If it's locked, follow appropriate steps as provided in your printer's manual.

Inspect for Paper Jams:

  • Remove the rear access door or any automatic printing accessory and check for paper jams or obstructions.

Roller Adjustment:

  • Ensure the carriage is positioned correctly, and try rolling the rear paper guide rollers as instructed in your printer's manual.

Re-engage the Accessories:

  • Reattach the rear access door or printing accessory and close the top cover.

Reconnect the Power Cable:

  • Plug the power cable back in and turn on the printer.

Cartridge and Self-Test:

  • Replace the cartridges, if necessary, and perform a self-test on the printer.

Take care and have a good day.
