@sunscreen11, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like there might be an obstruction or misalignment in the paper tray mechanism of your printer. Here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot and fix the issue:
Check for Paper Jams:
Open the paper tray and check if there’s any stuck paper or debris inside. Sometimes, a small piece of paper can get lodged in the tray's mechanism, causing it to get stuck.
Inspect the area around the tray: Look inside the printer where the tray slides in, and see if any paper or foreign object is blocking the path.
Remove Any Obstructions:
If you spot any paper, debris, or other objects, carefully remove them. Be gentle to avoid damaging the tray or the printer.
Check for Tray Alignment:
Ensure the tray is aligned properly with the printer’s rails or guides. Sometimes the tray can get misaligned, which causes it to get stuck.
Reposition the tray and make sure it's straight and fully inserted into the printer.
Inspect the Tray Guides:
Check if the side guides of the paper tray are too tight or out of place. These guides help the paper stay in place, and if they are too tight or misaligned, they can cause the tray to get stuck.
Adjust the guides to fit the paper size you're using and ensure they aren’t obstructing the movement.
Check for Tray Damage:
Inspect the tray for any signs of damage such as cracks or bends that may cause it not to slide in properly. If the tray is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
I hope this helps.
