Hi @mk9507,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're encountering a paper jam issue with your HP Smart Tank 500 All-in-One printer, here are some steps you can follow to try to resolve it:
Turn Off the Printer: Ensure the printer is turned off and unplugged before you start inspecting it.
Open the Printer Cover: Open the printer's access door where the ink cartridges are located. This should give you access to the print path where paper could be jammed.
Check for Paper in the Input Tray: Ensure the input tray is not overly loaded, as this could cause paper jams. Remove any paper from the tray.
Remove the Jammed Paper:
- Gently pull out any jammed paper from the front, being careful not to tear it.
- If the paper is stuck further inside, you may need to open additional panels or the rear access door (if available) to remove the paper from the back of the printer.
Check for Small Pieces of Paper: Look around the rollers and inside the printer for any small pieces of paper or debris. If you find any, carefully remove them.
Check the Rollers: Sometimes the rollers can get dirty and cause jams. You can clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Gently wipe the rollers to remove any dust or paper fibers.
Close All Doors and Reconnect: After ensuring everything is clear, close all the doors securely and plug the printer back in.
Test the Printer: Turn the printer back on and run a test print to ensure everything is functioning properly.
If the problem persists, it may be due to a hardware malfunction such as a faulty sensor or motor. In that case, contacting HP Support for further assistance might be necessary.
