Hi @Kannan2,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer (N911a) is displaying a paper jam error despite there being no paper, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check for Small Bits of Paper:

  • Even if there is no visible paper jam, small bits of paper might still be stuck in the printer's internal rollers or pathways. Carefully check the paper path, including the input and output areas, and gently remove any pieces you find.

Turn Off and Unplug the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. This will give you an opportunity to safely check the printer for any hidden obstructions without worrying about moving parts.

Examine the Paper Rollers:

  • Open the printer's access doors to locate the rollers that feed the paper. If they are dirty or covered in debris, use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to clean them. Make sure they rotate freely.

Check for Misaligned Paper Guides:

  • Sometimes, the paper guides in the input tray may be misaligned, causing paper to feed incorrectly. Ensure the guides are properly adjusted to the size of the paper you're using.

Reset the Printer:

  • After checking for paper bits and cleaning the rollers, perform a reset:
    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for 60 seconds.
    • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check the Printer's Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware update, as some updates may help resolve paper jam issues. You can check and update the firmware via the printer’s control panel or through HP's support website.

Perform a Paper Path Test:

  • If the issue persists, you can run a paper path test from the printer's control panel (if available) to identify where the paper jam might be happening internally.

Clear the Jam Using the Control Panel:

  • If the printer has a paper jam error but no paper is visible, you can often access a "Clear Jam" option from the control panel. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the jammed paper.
