Hi @RPParkmanor,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Printing on heavier paper, such as linen paper with a weight of 32 lbs, can sometimes be challenging for standard printers. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Specifications

  • Verify Compatibility: Ensure your printer model supports printing on 32 lbs linen paper. Refer to the printer's user manual or the HP website for the maximum paper weight specifications.

2. Adjust Paper Settings

  • Printer Driver Settings: Adjust the paper type settings in the printer driver before printing.
    • Steps:
      1. Open the document you want to print.Go to the print menu (usually found under "File" > "Print").
      2. Click on "Printer Properties" or "Preferences."Navigate to the "Paper/Quality" tab.
      3. Select the appropriate paper type (e.g., "Cardstock" or "Heavyweight").Apply the settings and try printing again.

3. Load Paper Correctly

  • Loading Tray: Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the tray.
    • Steps:
      1. Ensure the paper guides are snug against the edges of the paper.Avoid overloading the tray; load a small stack (10-20 sheets) to see if it feeds correctly.Fan the paper stack before loading to prevent sheets from sticking together.

4. Use Manual Feed Slot (if available)

  • Manual Feed: Some printers have a manual feed slot designed for heavier paper.
    • Steps:
      1. Open the manual feed slot.Insert one sheet of linen paper at a time.
      2. Select the manual feed option in the printer settings before printing.

5. Clean Printer Rollers

  • Cleaning Rollers: Dust and debris on the rollers can prevent proper paper feeding.
    • Steps:
      1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.Open the access panel to expose the rollers.
      2. Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to clean the rollers.
      3. Allow the rollers to dry completely before attempting to print.

6. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers

  • Firmware/Drivers: Ensure your printer firmware and drivers are up to date.
    • Steps:
      1. Visit the HP support website.Enter your printer model and check for firmware and driver updates.
      2. Download and install any available updates.

7. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Reset: Sometimes resetting the printer can resolve feeding issues.
    • Steps:
      1. Turn off the printer.Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
      2. Wait for 60 seconds.Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
