Hi, I have an HP Smart Tank 6001. My printer is new and I have not been able to feed glossy sticker paper to print. Matte sticker paper works fine. Is there a fix for this. I have powered down the printer, disconnected the cords from the printer then unplugged it from the outlet. Let sit for a minute and plugged back into the outlet and then the printer. Then powered on. Still no luck.
Thank you!

@DianneD23, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here's what's likely happening and how to fix or work around it:
Root Cause
- Glossy sticker paper is typically:
- Thicker than regular or matte paper.
- Has a slick, shiny coating that can cause the paper rollers to slip, meaning the printer can’t grip and feed it properly.
Solutions & Workarounds
Manually Feed One Sheet at a Time
- Remove all paper from the input tray.
- Place only one sheet of glossy sticker paper in the tray.
- Align the sheet perfectly and gently push it forward to help the rollers grab.
- Try printing with Photo Paper setting (see below).
Change Paper Type in Printer Settings
In your printer settings, select:
- Media Type: HP Photo Paper Glossy or Other Glossy Inkjet Paper
- Print Quality: Best or High
- This tells the printer to slow down and adjust ink output — and can also alter roller pressure behavior.
Avoid Curl or Static
Glossy sticker paper can develop a slight curl or static buildup:
- Try flattening the sheet under a book.
- Fan the stack and touch the edges to reduce static.
Use HP-Compatible Glossy Sticker Paper
Some glossy sticker paper brands may be too slick or thick for this model. Try:
- HP Everyday Glossy Photo Paper
Important Notes
- Don’t use laser printer sticker paper — it won’t absorb ink properly and might jam.
- Avoid feeding already peeled or cut sticker paper — always feed full, flat sheets.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
