Hi @john7961,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 printer continues to display a paper jam error and the cartridge holder won't move to the center for cartridge replacement, here are additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes to allow the printer to fully reset.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

2. Inspect for Hidden Paper or Debris

  • Open all printer access areas, including the rear access panel or duplexer (if equipped).
  • Use a flashlight to carefully check for:
    • Small paper scraps.
    • Obstructions near the cartridge holder.
  • Clean gently with lint-free cloth or tweezers if needed.

3. Move the Cartridge Holder Manually

  • With the printer off and unplugged, open the cartridge access door.
  • Gently try to move the cartridge holder to the center manually:
    • If it’s stuck, check for any obstruction in its path.
  • Be cautious not to force it, as it could damage the mechanism.

4. Lubricate or Clean Cartridge Tracks

  • Dust or residue in the cartridge tracks can cause the holder to jam:
    • Clean the tracks with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
    • Use a cotton swab for hard-to-reach areas.

5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure the printer’s firmware is up to date, as updates can resolve persistent errors:
    1. Visit the HP Support Website.
    2. Search for your printer model and download the latest firmware for Windows 10 (32-bit).
    3. Install the update using the provided instructions.

6. Perform a Semi-Full Reset

  • Perform a reset that clears certain memory settings without affecting firmware:
    • Unplug the printer.
    • Press and hold the Power button while reconnecting the power cord.
    • Release the button when the printer turns on.
