HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer
Chrome OS

printing on hp envy 7855 printer does not provide me an option for the document feeder as a selection. Even if I load the document feeder, it ignores and starts selecting paper from the tray before printing.

Hi @PKESWARAN, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer may not have full support for document feeder scanning/printing when used with Chrome OS, as Chrome OS has limited driver support compared to Windows and macOS. However, you can try the following steps:

1. Use HP Smart App (if available on Chrome OS)

Install the HP Smart app from the Google Play Store if your Chromebook supports Android apps.

Open HP Smart and check if it allows selecting the document feeder for scanning/printing.

2. Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Find your printer’s IP address:

Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel.

The IP address will be listed on the page.

Open a web browser on your Chromebook and enter the printer’s IP address.

Look for Scan Settings or Print Settings and check if there's an option to enable the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

3. Manually Select the Document Feeder (ADF)

Load your document into the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).

On the printer’s touchscreen, select Scan or Copy and choose Use ADF instead of the glass.

Try scanning or copying a document to see if the printer detects the ADF.

4. Print from Google Chrome with HP Print

Open chrome://print in the Chrome browser.

Under Destination, select your HP ENVY Photo 7855.

Click More settings and check if there is an option for using the document feeder.

5. Update Firmware & Printer Settings

On the printer’s touchscreen, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.

Ensure that the firmware is up to date.

If the issue persists, reset the printer to factory settings:

Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.

6. Try Using a Different Device

If none of the above options work, try printing from a Windows or macOS device to check if the document feeder option appears.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
