Page 15 - E2 Error -  Illustration, explanation, and solution

Partial Excerpt

NOTE:  See illustrated information in the User Guide on Page 15

Error E 2 - No Resume Light

The Number of copies icon is alternating between the letter E and the number 2. The Resume light is off.

Cause / Solution

The printer receives a single-page printing job, detects that the paper length for the printing job does not match the length of the loaded paper, and then prints out the page with errors.

To clear the error, press any button on the control panel or wait for two minutes.

To avoid the paper length mismatch problem, do one of the following before printing.

– Change the paper size setting for the printing job to match the paper loaded.

– Remove all paper from the input tray, and then load paper that matches the paper size setting for the printing job.

TIP:You can change the default paper size automatically detected by the printer. For more information, see Change the default paper size detected by printer on page 22

OR

E 2 - Plus Resume Light

The Number of copies icon is alternating between the letter E and the number 2.

At the same time, the Error icon, the Paper Error icon, and the Resume light are blinking.

Cause    Solution

The printer receives a multi-page printing job, detects that the paper length for the printing job does not match the length of the loaded paper, and then prints out the first page of the job with errors.

– To cancel the printing job, press the Cancel button ().

– To continue printing the remaining pages, press the Resume button ().

The remaining pages will have the same errors as the first page.

TIP:You can change the default paper size automatically detected by the printer. For more information, see Change the default paper size detected by printer on page 22.

The motor drawing the paper through the machine seems to be slowing down to a stop, it really shouldn't do that, should it?

The paper is a4, its set to print on a4 plain paper. Still crawling to a halt.

Anything that prevents a healthy printer from printing a supported action should not happen.

So, no - I'd guess something is wrong.

What?

I don't know.

Sounds like a feed problem, possibly hardware.

I think I'm going to have send it back, though I've looked everywhere on the site and cannot see a "Returns" advice page.

Can anyone direct me to one?

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

@James1v

You are welcome.

Understood.  If the error cannot be cleared and the unit is within the "purchase return" window, then returning the printer is an option.

"We" cannot help with returns - we are not a business branch of HP.

Returns are handled by the HP Store (assuming you purchased the device from HP).

HP Support - Technical Support for Devices in Warranty

Case submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices are registered and still in Warranty.

For the rest of us, this is not an option.

HP Support does not generally provide free service for out-of-warranty devices.
