HP Smart Tank Plus 558 Wireless All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

There has been a number of questions of this error but I have not seen a solution of it.

The problem is an error when printing that is "The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.".

I have done the solutions HP provided in other tickets with uninstalling drivers and printers, rebooting everything and installing everything again with no result. After all this making the problem still remains exactly the same.

The scanning is working and printing from my mobile phone is working, but printing from my computer only get the error 0x000003e3. Printing a document from HP Smart get the error 0x80070005 instead.

This is a local printer only. It is the same problem if I have the printer as only an USB printer or as a network printer. I've tried to share some of my resources, as Spool and so on. Nothing helps.

Hi @StefanB6,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

It sounds like an issue with the print driver installed on your computer. Use the method below to remove existing print drivers from your computer:

Please ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and the computer is up to date with it's software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Windows software:

Update printer firmware

Update windows.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) In Windows, search for and open Services.

16.) In the Services window, right-click Print Spooler, and then select Stop.

17.) After the service stops, close the Services window.

18.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

19.) Type spool and click Ok.

20.) Open drivers folder and then open x64 folder. Rename 3 folder to old

21.) Restart the computer.

Once the computer is fully initialized, download and install the printer software and driver available here.

If this does not help, the printer might need service. I recommend you contact phone support for further assistance

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
