Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy 5661 has decided to no longer print double sided, instead prints 2 pages and flips the second upside down. I have updated drivers to see if that is the issue, but not fixing problem.

How do I fix this issue so that I can again print 2-sided documents?

Hi @Deborah113,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Printer Settings

  1. Check the print settings:
    • Open your print dialog box and ensure that the "Two-Sided Printing" or "Duplex Printing" option is selected.
    • Make sure the “Page Order” is set to “Front to Back” or the appropriate setting for double-sided printing.

Update Printer Firmware

  1. Update firmware:
    • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware. Go to HP’s support website for your printer model and download the latest firmware.

Verify Driver Settings

  1. Confirm driver settings:
    • Open the printer properties from the Control Panel on your computer.
    • Verify that the duplex printing settings in the driver match your double-sided printing needs. Sometimes, driver updates reset custom settings to default values.

Check for Paper Type and Size Compatibility

  1. Paper compatibility:
    • Ensure you are using paper that supports double-sided printing and that your printer senses the correct paper size and type. Double-sided printing may not be supported on some specialty papers.

Print a Test Document

  1. Test print:
    • Print a test document to verify if the problem persists. Ensure the test document is formatted correctly for double-sided printing.

Reset Printer Settings

  1. Reset printer settings:
    • Reset the printer settings to default and reconfigure for double-sided printing.

I hope this helps.
