Hi @Jeffr3y,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the issue with the bottom of the poster being cut off when printing on an A4 sheet with the HP DeskJet 2800e series is likely related to the printer's margin settings. Most printers have a minimum margin requirement that prevents printing at the very edge of the paper. Here's how you can address this issue:
1. Check Your Document Margins
- Ensure that the document you're printing has margins that are within the printer's printable area. Most HP printers require at least 3-4 mm of margin around the edges.
2. Enable Borderless Printing
- Some HP DeskJet models support borderless printing, which eliminates margins and allows printing to the edge of the paper.
- Steps:
- Open the document or poster.
- Go to File > Print.
- Click on Printer Properties or Preferences.
- Look for the Borderless Printing option and enable it.
- Save the settings and print the document.
3. Adjust Scaling or Fit-to-Page Settings
- If borderless printing isn't available, scale the poster to fit within the printable area:
- Open the Print dialog.
- Look for an option like Fit to Page, Shrink to Fit, or Scale to Fit.
- Adjust the scaling percentage to ensure the entire content fits within the printable area.
4. Update Printer Firmware and Drivers
- Outdated firmware or drivers can limit functionality. To ensure you're using the latest features:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Search for your printer model (DeskJet 2800e).
- Download and install the latest drivers and firmware updates.
5. Test Printable Area with a Template
- Download an A4 printable area test template online.
- Print the template to confirm the margins and adjust your document design accordingly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the reply - will have a go at sorting it this evening. Further info: tried my other desktop and all is ok! I think it must be the windows settings on the first computer - I can see it says depth 28.135 which ties up with the cut-off but I can't see how to change it (Windows 10)
