My printer box says DeskJet 4255e but the paperwork in the box says DeskJet 4200e all in one series. I have update all software and the printer still won’t hook up to computer or hook up in the hp setup system.

Hi @Okayy

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the situation. Thank you for updating the software and sharing the details about the printer model. Let’s go step by step to ensure the DeskJet 4225e/4255e connects properly through the HP App.

Confirm the Printer Model in HP App

  • The DeskJet 4225e/4255e belongs to the DeskJet 4200e All-in-One series. In the HP App, please search for “DeskJet 4200e series” when adding the printer.

Reset the HP App Connection

  • On your computer or phone, open Windows Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > HP App > Advanced Options > Reset.
  • After reset, reopen the HP App and sign in with your HP account.

Reconnect the Printer to Wi-Fi

  • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button until the light blinks.
  • In the HP App, select Set up a new printer and follow the guided steps to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

Update Firmware and Drivers

Run Diagnose & Fix in HP App

  • Open the HP App, go to your printer, and select Diagnose & Fix.
  • This will automatically check and repair connectivity issues.

Once you complete these steps, the printer should appear in the HP App and connect to both your computer and phone.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
