HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer

For the life of my, after installing the Printer drivers in a clean version of Windows 11, the printer does not print color. I tried the old solution of fooling window with a driver for another printer but I can't force that in windows. When is this problem going to be fixed HP ??

Hi @czama,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating to have color printing issues with your HP OfficeJet 4650 after a fresh installation of Windows 11. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the color printing problem.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers specifically for Windows 11. Make sure to select the correct printer model.

Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. This tool can help diagnose and fix printing issues.

Check Print Settings:

  • Ensure that the printer is set to print in color. Open the print dialog in your application and look for the "Preferences" or "Properties" option. Make sure the color option is selected.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Confirm that all ink cartridges are installed correctly and have sufficient ink. You can usually check ink levels from the printer’s control panel or through the HP Smart app.

Use a Different USB Port or Network Connection:

  • If you’re using a USB connection, try connecting the printer to a different USB port. If using Wi-Fi, ensure that the printer is connected to the same network as your computer.

Remove and Re-add the Printer:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, remove the printer, and then re-add it to see if that resolves the issue.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes for printing issues. Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.

Adjust Color Management Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Printer Properties. Under the Color Management tab, check the settings to ensure they are set correctly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
