Got a phone person at HP to cobble software that was the wrong model to make it work.  Says XP compatible on the box but the rep is going to tell you no it isnt.  So after while and for unknown reason HP Scan that actually worked with xp disappeared.

So i have a brick that wont print or scan via USB cable and the CD that came with it does not even have auto run i starrt to install Basic soft ware and that fails too but hey no reason needs to be given

@assholle, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to scan. Are you using Win XP OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?

Click here to download the HP Full-feature driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Open the HP utility and try scanning.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
