I received this printer from a neighbor. When I boot it up, I get the 49 error. I tried some of the recommendations for resetting - hitting the back arrow 4 times, turning off & on, unplugging for a few minutes, etc., but it just cycles through rebooting and then throwing the error.

I am trying to update the firmware via USB, but the firmware download on the HP site is an .exe file - I can't get to the specific .bdl file I need. When I click on the download, it just launches an update window on my computer.

Any other recommendations for clearing the error or updating the firmware?

Thank you for the response. I'm getting stuck on Step 4: Updating the firmware. I've downloaded the firmware update to a thumbdrive, but when I open it there is no .bdl file. Please see screenshot below of the extracted files. I don't know how to continue from here.
