Hi @Audrey943

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how disappointing it feels when the alignment page won’t scan during the initial setup of your new Envy 6552e.

You’ve already done the right thing by noticing the issue early, so let’s go through the steps that can help get the scanner working smoothly:

1. Check placement of the alignment page

  • Lift the scanner lid and place the alignment page face‑down on the scanner glass.
  • Align it with the indicated corner guides (usually the front right corner).
  • Close the lid firmly before starting the scan.

2. Restart the alignment process

  • On the printer’s control panel, cancel the current alignment.
  • Select Setup > Tools > Align Printer.
  • The printer will print a new alignment page.
  • Place this fresh page on the scanner glass and try again.

3. Clean the scanner glass

  • Dust or smudges can prevent the scanner from reading the page correctly.
  • Power off the printer.
  • Wipe the glass gently with a lint‑free cloth slightly dampened with water.
  • Dry thoroughly before retrying.

4. Update firmware and drivers

5. Use the HP App for setup

  • Install the HP App from the Microsoft Store or your mobile app store.
  • Add your printer and follow the guided setup.
  • The app can re‑initiate alignment and confirm if the scanner is functioning correctly.

If the alignment still fails after these steps, you can continue using the printer for printing and scanning through the HP App, but alignment is important for best print quality. Running the process again with a freshly printed page and updated firmware usually resolves the issue.
