Your printer is Dynamic Security enabled and will only accept cartridges woth an Original HP chip;

Please check with your supplier to ensure your cartridge has an original HP security chip or unmodified HP electronic circuitry.

Hi,
That is absolutely normal, any software and driver are provided for a whole printer series, 6978 is part of the Officejet Pro 6970 Series.
What exact problem do you experience with your new cartridges?
Are those genuine HP cartridge or Non-HP cartridges?

Hi,
Thank you so much for your help. I bought Non-HP cartridges, and try alllllllll the tips people tell on Internet to make it work. But my printer keep telling there is a cartridge problem. With new genuine HP cartridge there is no problem.
