I have been helping my parents get their HP Envy 7155 connected to a new laptop with Windows 11. The printer shows the firmware is up to date and I have uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled via the HP site.
The issue is the profiles used for certain types of printing. They like to print 4x6 photos and then other items on standard 8.5x11 paper. When receiving an email with photos they want to print, they want to print directly from outlook using the quickprint option. When you choose that, a window pops up showing the picture preview and the windows says "How do you want to print your picture?" We change the paper size to 4x6 and select the HP Photo Paper option. We then click options in the lower right corner. It brings up a printer settings menu. We then choose printer properties. it brings up printer shortcuts that you can choose. We pick one of the 4x6 profiles and then you have to pick the second tab called paper quality. It has a paper source option. It defaulted to "Main Tray". We change it to "Photo Tray" and then save the profile with a new name. I hit print and everything works.
However, if the next thing I want to print is just a standard document on letter size, if I hit print it will use the photo tray. If I go back into the printer shortcuts for the various types of printing, all the tray selections say "Photo Tray". You have to change it back to "Main Tray" before printing in order for it to work. I hit print and it will go to the letter size paper.
If want to print a picture again, the photo profiles now all show the main tray. So anytime you change the paper tray, it changes all shortcuts, not just the one shortcut you are wanting to use. Seems like a bug in the software. Is there a fix?
I used the HP Smart App setup the first time when having the issue. Removed it and tried the Easy Start Setup tool. Same result.
They had an old Windows 7 machine before and there weren't any issues. So seems something related maybe to the software for Win 11. The Easy Start Setup tool shows to be from June 2023.
Thanks
