I can print a Word text document on A4 with correct margin sizes, but when I print a PDF of that same document, the result is a double margin - ie the PDF is not printed full bleed.  How can I have the PDF print using its own, inherent, margins and not have the printer reduce the text content to a smaller frame in the centre of the printed pages ?  (Note that printing a photo image introduces a white border, which is understandable as the printer cannot print edge to edge, but having the opportunity to print PDFs full-size, rather than treating the PDF as an image to be resized, is what I am seeking.)

Hi @DavidB5678

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you're aiming for precise PDF printing without the added margins, and I understand how frustrating it can be when the output doesn't match your expectations. Let's work through some steps to achieve full-size PDF printing:

Step 1: Adjust Printer Settings

  1. Open the Print dialog box in your PDF viewer (e.g., Adobe Acrobat Reader).
  2. Select your printer (HP Smart Tank 750) and click Properties or Preferences.
  3. Look for options like Page Scaling or Fit to Page and set it to None or Actual Size.
  4. Ensure the Paper Type is set to A4 and matches the paper loaded in the tray.

Step 2: Enable Borderless Printing (If Supported)

  1. In the printer settings, check for a Borderless Printing option.
  2. If available, enable it to minimize margins. Note that borderless printing may be limited to certain paper types or sizes.

Step 3: Check PDF Margins

  1. Open the PDF file in your viewer and verify the document's inherent margins.
  2. If the PDF has built-in margins, they will be included in the print output. Consider editing the PDF to remove or adjust these margins using software like Adobe Acrobat or a free PDF editor.

Step 4: Update Printer Firmware and Drivers

  1. Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
  2. Download and install the latest firmware and drivers for the HP Smart Tank 750.
  3. Restart your computer and printer after the updates.

Step 5: Test with Different PDF Viewer

  1. Try printing the PDF using a different viewer, such as Foxit Reader or Microsoft Edge, to see if the issue persists.
  2. Some viewers handle scaling and margins differently.

Step 6: Use HP Smart App

  1. Open the HP Smart App on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Navigate to the Print Settings and adjust the scaling and margin options.
  3. Test printing the PDF directly from the app.

I hope these steps help you achieve the full-size PDF printing you're looking for. Let me know how it goes or if you need further guidance! 😊
