Hi @DIANEELAINE,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720 is having issues with print margins and image scaling. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Troubleshooting Steps:
1. Check Printer Settings
- Ensure that the paper size and type settings in the printer’s settings match the paper you are using. Incorrect settings can cause issues with how the content is printed.
- Double-check the margin settings in your print settings. Even if margins are set to zero, some printers have minimum margin requirements that might not be apparent.
2. Adjust Print Settings in Your Application
Print Dialog Settings:
- Open the document or image you are trying to print.
- Go to File > Print and select your HP OfficeJet Pro 7720.
- Click on Properties or Preferences to access the printer settings.
- Make sure the paper size, layout, and margins are correctly set here. Set margins to "None" if available.
Fit to Page or Scaling:
- Check if there’s an option like Fit to Page, Scale to Fit, or Shrink to Fit in the print dialog. Sometimes these settings can automatically adjust the content to fit the page, which might cause the issues you're seeing.
3. Check Printer Configuration
- Access the printer’s settings directly from the control panel. Look for any settings related to paper size, print margins, or scaling options.
- Ensure that print quality settings are set appropriately. Sometimes, high-quality settings might affect how the image is processed and printed.
4. Update Printer Drivers
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and firmware for your OfficeJet Pro 7720. Installing the latest updates can resolve bugs and improve printer functionality.:
- Uninstall the existing printer driver from your computer and then reinstall the latest version. This can help resolve any issues caused by corrupted or outdated drivers.
5. Check Printer Firmware:
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve compatibility. Check the HP Support website for any available updates for your printer model.
6. Perform a Printer Calibration:
- Sometimes, recalibrating the printer can resolve issues with print alignment and margins. Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a calibration.
7. Print a Test Page
- Print a test page from the printer’s settings to ensure that the printer itself is not experiencing any issues. This can help identify if the problem is with the printer or the document settings.
8. Check Document Formatting
- Ensure that the document or image you are printing matches the size of the paper loaded in the printer. If the document is larger than the paper, it might get cropped.:
- In the application you’re using (e.g., Word, Adobe Reader), check the page setup or print setup options to ensure that the content is sized correctly for the paper.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
