So, with Office 365, Excel prints, I can print from Chrome, and I can do test prints OK. However, Word will send the job to the spooler, which I can see when I look in the print queue, then it deletes without printing anything. This happens with documents already on the laptop as well as creating a brand new file and typing some words into it.
I've tried deleting and reinstalling the drivers. I've entered the command window and used printui /s to remove old printers and drivers. I've also run Windows updates on the device. And rebooted the device several times.
Still, nothing from Word will print.
From inside Word, I also checked the advanced properties for printing, and I don't see an issue there either.
Does anyone have any additional ideas for trying? I've never seen a printer refuse to print from MS Word, but work for other Office tools.

@jabramson, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you've already gone through a lot of the usual troubleshooting steps, so let’s try a few more focused strategies to get Word printing properly. Here are some additional ideas:
Check the Printer Port
Make sure that Word is trying to print to the correct printer port. This can sometimes get misconfigured.
Open Word, then go to File > Print.
Under Printer, click on your printer, and then select Printer Properties.
Check the Ports tab to make sure it's set to the correct port (USB or network port).
If the port is incorrect, change it to the right one, save, and try printing again.
Repair Office Installation
Sometimes there’s a deeper issue with the Office installation itself. Even if you’ve reinstalled the printer drivers, the Office apps themselves might need repair.
Open Control Panel.
Go to Programs and Features.
Find Microsoft Office in the list.
Right-click on it and select Change.
Select Quick Repair or Online Repair (the latter is more thorough).
This will check for any corrupted files within Office that might be causing printing problems.
Create a New User Profile
It's possible that your current user profile has some settings or corruption that’s causing the issue with Word printing. Creating a new user profile might help.
Open Settings > Accounts.
Create a new local or Microsoft account.
Log into the new account and try printing from Word.
If it works, the issue is specific to your user profile.
Restart Print Spooler (Windows):
- Search services in the search box. Open the service menu.
- In the list, find Print Spooler.
- Right-click Print Spooler and click Restart.
- If it’s stopped, click Start instead.
- Close the window. Check if the issue persists
Try Printing to PDF
Try printing to a PDF (via the "Microsoft Print to PDF" option or using a PDF printer like Adobe PDF) to see if Word can produce a document that way. If that works, it could give us more insight into the problem.
I hope this helps.
