8270 Firmware update program: Device foujnd but is not selectable

I am running OJP8720_1834A.exe to update the printer firmware.  I was able to find both of our 8270 printers network printers (see photo).  But neither printer can be selected.  Clicking on checkbox provides no result.  Firewall has been disabled. Any Ideas?OJP8720_1834A.exe

Welcome to the HP Support Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, you are unable to download and install the printer firmware.

Appreciate you trying the steps. Don't worry, I'm here to help! 

Let's try these steps -

1) Turn off the Router, Printer, and the computer/ mobile devices. 
2) Wait for 60 seconds. 
3) Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize. 
4) Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself. 
5) Turn on the computer/ mobile devices.
 

Connect a USB cable. Download and install the update from this link.

Hello Asmita,

Thank you for your suggetion.  I followed your instructions, but still could not select the printer even though the firmware update program discovered the printer on the USB port.  I also tried to install the firmware update with not network involved: laptop directly connected by USB cable with no network configured.  Same result.  The printer is enrolled in HP Instank Ink subscription.  Would that prohib an update?

The firmware version on my HP 8720 is WMP1CN1848AR.

The HP website identifies the version of firmware I am trying to install as 1834A.

The last 6 character of my current firmware seems to indate that a new

firmware version is already installed on my printer, but I am only guessing.

There is no record of version WMP1CN1848AR  on the HP support web site.

Thank you Asmita.  I contacted HP Support.  I talked to printer support, and the support assistant said  I needed to talk to computer support, obviously since I was running a program on my HP Envy computer to install the firmware update on the HP printer.  She forwarded me to computer support, and that support person said that I need to talk to commercial printer support as they only support home/residential issues.  She forwarded me to commercial pc support department, and he said that I need to talk to printer support, and before I could say another word, I was transferred back to the printer support phone que, which dropped my call after about 10 seconds.

Been using HP tech for many many years.  That isn't the HP support I remember.  Anyway I appreciate your help Asmita, at least you seem to care..

The firmware version on my HP 8720 is WMP1CN1848AR is the lateste firmware.

The HP website identifies the version of firmware I am trying to install as 1834A.

So, my printer has the latest firmware already installed which is necessary for me to know.

The hp website doesn't show firmware history and does not appear to be up to date.

The firmware installation program does not indicate that a later version is already installed.

I thought it would be good for HP Community to know in case anyone else is confused by it.
