HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have been trying to install my 8610 printer on a fresh windows install and NOTHING is working. I have tried to connect via USB but my computer has no USB 2.0 ports, only USB 3.0 and 3.1, so this fails every time. When attempting to connect wirelessly the driver software finds the printer but will not complete install (installation status times out eventually). Finally, when attempting a wired connection where it is plugged into the router, the installation is exactly the same as the wireless and times out. The closest I can get is the "Fax" component of the printer appears to install although it says "Driver unavailable" and the printer cannot be found in any printing software (word, notepad etc.). Here are things I have done which have not been successful:

- Uninstalled all HP drivers and software and performed a clean boot then installed drivers.

- did the same but used the HP print and scan doctor.

- disabled all anti virus and firewalls. HP doctor verified disabled firewalls.

- updated firmware on printer.

It appears as though the drivers are incompatible with this new version of windows which has left me with a rather large and heavy paper weight. I have scoured the forums although none of the solutions offered have worked so far. Does ANYONE know how to fix this problem???

So I decided to do a fresh install of windows (had a couple of other unrelated issues as well). The first thing I did before even connecting to the internet was install the HP printer software package. Everything works fine now!!

Hi,

May you reset or upgraded witndows latelly? can youi see a Windows.old folder under drive C of your PC?

Right click the Start menu and select Device Manager.

Can you see the printer listed under Other Devices?

If so, right click the start icon and selet Run.

Type %temp% and press OK

Open the latest HP installation folder which begins with 7z (e.g. 7z1234S) and copy its paste from the top address bar.

Return to the device manager and right click the listed printer, select Update Device Software.

Follow the steps to browse for a driver and paste the copied paste..

Can you complete the wizard or is there any specific error shown?

Uninstall update KB4022725. When this patch is out, the printer work well. I tested the update, and everytime it's installed, HP printer stop working. I experienced the problem on 2 different printers, 2 different PC.

Cheers for the response. I tried this but windows...in it's infinite wisdom...decided that that driver that was currently installed is the most up to date driver and hence, will not install the one I selected. Also, when I run the wizard, it gets to the point where a progress window comes up showing the printer is being installed over the network but it runs for about 5 minutes and then ends saying could not connect with printer.

Hey Bustech, I tried this one too. As I installed a fresh copy of windows about a week ago, it would appear that that update has not been installed (or at least does not show up in the update list) and when I manually downloaded it (to install it, then remove the HP driver) it said it was not applicable to my system. So at this stage....still no printer 😞
