Officejet Pro 8620. I removed the printhead and closed the door. Opening door does not re-position the housing so that I can put the head back in. Started to turn the printer off to reset and got warning that turning off could damage the printer. Want to put the printhead back in and turn off while I get a cleaning kit or replacement part.

@0223, Welcome to HP Support Community!
If you have already performed the steps from the document 'Carriage Jam' or 'E3' Error Displays and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.
Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
Hope this helps!
