Bought new computer with Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. Installed 8620e S/W from original CD. Printer worked wireless, but believe it upgraded printer firmware. Added an account for my wife. Went to print and it didn't work. Got a message about sharing and selected yes. Still didn't print. Went back to my account and it no longer prints. Have uninstalled and re-installed S/W multiple times. Got latest S/W from network and when it gets to part for connecting to wireless or USB, it never connects. The driver I downloaded was OJ8620_198. In control panel programs it doesn't show the printer S/W installed as it bails out when no connection is made. Have had it when paused at that point and desktop icon there clicked it and can get the printer to print internal test page. See things go to print que and disappear, but when it can't connect and I get out icons gone. So I don't think it is installing anymore. Have spent many hours uninstalling and trying to reinstall. Old computer and iPhone still can print to printer.

I had already started a fresh install of Windows 10 before I got your reply. I did a complete 'clean' install of Windows 10. Got the updates, downloaded the latest printer driver, install it and got it working. Installed a bunch of apps, creating restore points after each one, still worked. Today I created a second user (my wife) and it is still working. The only thing I can figure is that when I got the new printer and installed the printer from the original CD (and it worked), that the Windows 10 update 1903 screwed it up or the addition of my wife's account.....I'll never know. A couple of days ago they came out with an update for the 1903 (improvements I'm guessing) so maybe that is the reason.....I'm not complaining, other then wasting the last week of my life trying everything under the sun from all the posts of the issues with Windows 10 1903 update and printers. I appreciate you taking the time to investigate this, but I really have no real answer other then the fact I started from Windows 10 clean install and got the updates before the latest printer driver install. Also, I installed the printer driver before any apps and then just used notepad to verify the printer was working

@arysrus, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Follow the steps below-
Try adding the printer using IP address
1. Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.
2. Choose “Printers & scanners“.
3. elect “Add a printer or scanner“.
4. Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.
5. Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname”, then select “Next“.
6. select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.
7. Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.
8. Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.
Assign manual IP to the printer
The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.
For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers.
Try printing.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

That didn't work. I have gotten the latest driver and installed in the Windows 7 compatibility mode which gets me through all the setup. I also tried what you mentioned and it still doesn't work. I see the file go to the print que, stays awhile and then leaves so it appears it is trying to print and just not printing. Can still print from iPhone and when hooked to old Windows 7 computer it prints. With the install complete it does scan and send a document to the computer.....just won't every print with Windows 10??? Please help.......Thanks

One other thing....when I first got the computer last week, I installed the printer with the original CD and it worked. When windows updated with the 1903 update it stopped working and has sent me down this path of trying to get it working again. I have followed the HP recommended steps and got the newest version of the driver and installed it in Windows 7 compatibility mode and am at the point I've outlined above where it scans to the computer and sends files to the print que, they disappear as completed, but never print. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Such behavior likely occurs due to a corrupted user profile of your operating system, preventing from processing the print job, it is basically a problem with the operating system itself and not with the printer software.
Try following below steps to repair such a corruption:
- From the search bar type CMD, right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
- Copy the following command, then right-click the Command Prompt dialog and select Paste, then press Enter till any command completes processing, you should see a lot of commands executing as there are many files in these locations:
icacls %temp% /inheritance:r icacls %temp% /grant %username%:(OI)(CI)F /T /C icacls %temp% /grant Administrators:(OI)(CI)F /T /C icacls %temp% /grant System:(OI)(CI)F /T /C md %temp%\Low icacls %temp%\Low /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low icacls "C:\Windows\System32\spool" /grant users:(OI)(CI)F /T icacls "C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS" /grant users:(OI)(CI)F /T icacls "%windir%\temp" /grant %username%:(OI)(CI)F /T
Now restart your PC and try printing, may you see any difference?
