Hi @jj137,
I'd like to help!
We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I opened up the Admin area due to a perceived problem with the printer (turned out the problem was our communities new network). The first action I took wiped the administration password--which I had no idea was either protected/isolated or not reachable by the owner. Never tried this area before as this 8630 has been very stable since I got it in 2015.
The community has indicated there are solutions available to community participants, although without some caveats that I haven't yet understood. I made no progress with a case # as the individual either didn't understand my problem or told me to see my web master. Our community web support is very spotty and doesn't know how to address printer problems.
The couple of descriptions I have seen here identify my challenge--I believe I need some advice (stated simply for me). Thanks,
Jess

Thanks for the help try--but I (?) got nothing that I could work with on the link and couldn't find/don't know what I was looking for as a private icon msg to click on. Sorry I'm missing the basics. ( I believe you have me on the right track track and you are the first person in my help talk or this websites that has most likely recognized what I believe is the solution.
But I still need help in getting the instructions.
Thanks,

Systems wants more info?
HP8630 printer with administrator lock/no passwords/no idea how to work around the problem.
NEED a way to reset the administrator password, iMac using Catalina and MacBook Air on Mojave.
I have an offer to factory reset the printer with individual instructions either not attached/lost by me/can't negotiate the help page? and don't understand where the little checkmark is for a private message.
Looking for next steps. Making progress--but need more help.
Thanks,

Jay_G24 nailed the solution. Very helpful and I would never have gotten there without his insight. (I had one of the posts that didn't understand at all--but Jay was easily understood a way to address the problem).
