Office Jet 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am trying to setup wireless connection for my existing 8710 printer to my  new HP laptop and continue to get either "driver not found" or network unavailable error messages.   I have tried to install it directly from Windows 10 as well as downloading the drivers from HP.  Neither of those worked, I also tried Print Doctor and a previously suggested Root uninstall and re-install but none of those have worked.   The printer works fine with my older windows 10 and windows 7 laptops but the new one continues to show "driver is unavailable" though i can scan directly to it.

Hi @printer456

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I understand you are not able to print wirelessly from your PC. I'd be happy to assist you.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the PC

Use the HP Smart app to print and scan from your Win PC

Click here to download and know more about the app.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the solution.  In addition, my other computer is on 5Ghz network and works fine with the printer.

That's unusual. This printer will not work on a 5GHz band. If the printer is connected to the network, obtain the IP address of the printer by tapping on the wireless icon and enter it on a browser to check if you can reach the EWS page of the printer to check the connectivity between the printer and the PC.

Once the devices are connected, we can try installing the drivers.

Let me know how this goes.
