Help! My 9015e was printing perfectly. The ink ran out so just installed the 4 genuine ink cartridges and now prints poorly. I tried the alignment maintenace but will not work. The clean smear and clean printhead worked fine.

Hi @BobGuill,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e was printing perfectly before the ink ran out, and now prints poorly even after installing genuine HP cartridges, here’s what could be going wrong and how to fix it:
1. Double-Check Cartridge Installation
- Open the ink access door and ensure each cartridge is clicked in firmly.
- Make sure none of the cartridges are loose or misaligned.
2. Run Printhead Cleaning Again
Even though you already ran it, try this sequence:
- Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
- Run Level 1 cleaning.
- If quality doesn’t improve, run Level 2 (if available).
- Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page to check for missing lines or color issues.
3. Check for Protective Tape
- If the cartridges are brand new, make sure the orange plastic tape has been removed from the nozzles.
- If left on, the ink won’t flow properly.
4. Use the Embedded Web Server (EWS) for Alignment
If alignment fails from the control panel:
- Get the printer’s IP address from the touchscreen.
- Enter it in your browser to open the Embedded Web Server.
- Go to Tools > Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead.
5. Update Firmware
- Visit HP’s support page.
- Search for OfficeJet Pro 9015e and download the latest firmware.
- Install it and restart the printer.
6. Try a Different Paper Type
- Use HP-branded paper or high-quality inkjet paper.
- Avoid damp or curled paper, which can affect print quality.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
