HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The other day, I wanted to shut down my printer. I called up the menu, and then held the power button long enough for the printer to start shutting down. Eventually, a white screen came up that said "shutting down". I waited for over 1/2 hour, but it still had not turned off. I finally unplugged the power cord, waited a minute, then plugged it back in. It immediately started back up. After it was running, I tried the same sequence with the power button (pressing it until the printer said that it was shutting down). This time, it did shut down. Needless to say, the first time that I wanted it to shut down, there were no outstanding actions (such as printing a document) that were pending, and the printer had been idle for at least a couple of hours.

Hi @PaulTay,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

This could be a hardware issue with the unit and may need repair.

I called Customer Support. I told them that, since the incomplete shutdown happens only very occasionally, that I suspect a design issue, not a manufacturing issue, and would Customer Service feed that back to design engineers? I am not planning on swapping out the unit for another unit, since it seems to me that it is highly likely that the replacement unit will do it, too.
