HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I use many older programs so I am stuck on Windows 7. I just purchased the 9120e and I was able to fudge things by choosing a 9020  printer driver which allows printing only. I can't find a 9120e driver for windows 7. I wonder if I get a USB cable and forget wifi  will that solve my problem?

Hi @quansoo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're using Windows 7 and facing difficulty with the HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e All-in-One Printer, a USB connection might help resolve the issue. While using a USB cable for direct printing might work better than relying on the WiFi setup with an unsupported driver, it may not fully resolve the issue with other features like scanning or faxing.

Here are a few things to try.

  • USB Connection: Connecting your printer directly to your computer via USB can bypass potential issues with WiFi drivers or compatibility. You'll want to install the driver for the 9020 series if the 9125e driver isn't available for Windows 7. It may provide basic printing support, but again, scanning features may still be limited.
  • Driver Compatibility: While HP might not have an official Windows 7 driver for the 9125e, try checking HP’s support page or the HP Smart app (if compatible) for any updates. Sometimes older printer drivers, like for the 9020 or similar models, can offer a functional solution for printing and scanning.
  • Windows Update: Even though Windows 7 is no longer fully supported, ensure your system has the latest updates installed to maximize compatibility with any drivers available.

If you're primarily using the printer for printing and the USB method works for that, it's worth trying. For full functionality, however, upgrading to a newer version of Windows may be necessary, as many newer HP printers don't officially support older OS versions like Windows 7 for complete features.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I have an old laptop with Windows7 on it and I just bought a HP9120E Office jet printer. I do not have WiFi in the area I'm using the equipment. I have connected them with a USB cable but cannot find a driver that will load on my windows 7. Help would be appreciated  please?
