This is a repeat of a problem that has occurred before.
My HP Deskjet HP2720E somehow lost the wifi connection on my network.
After exhausting all possible solutions I attempted to make use of EWS and, as happened last time, I received this message:-
"A custom password has been set for your printer. Enter the password to access the printer web interface."
I tried the password I had set last time this happened, but it did not work!
So I tried the Pin number for the printer, once again no joy.
Only recourse, as before, was a factory reset. But none of the posted methods work!
On the previous post there was an article which detailed a method that did work, but that reference has disappeared.
I'd be grateful for any method that works.

"Reset the EWS Password: If you've forgotten the password or it isn't working, you might want to reset it. This can usually be done directly from the printer's control panel. Refer to your printer's user guide for specific instructions on how to reset the password or change settings related to EWS."
If only it were that easy.
Eventually got it sorted via Whatsapp link.

Hi @HairyScot,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding accessing the EWS of your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Reset the EWS Password: If you've forgotten the password or it isn't working, you might want to reset it. This can usually be done directly from the printer's control panel. Refer to your printer's user guide for specific instructions on how to reset the password or change settings related to EWS.
Factory Reset the Printer: Performing a factory reset may revert all settings, including admin passwords, to their defaults. Keep in mind that this will also remove all the printer settings and configurations, so you'll need to set up your printer again from scratch.
Check for Instructions in the User Manual: Sometimes the printer's user manual includes specific steps for addressing password issues. It might also detail ways to initiate password recovery or reset procedures.
Embedded Web Server Access Issues: Ensure you are following best practices for accessing the Embedded Web Server directly, such as disabling proxy settings in your browser if needed.
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
