I have a deskjet 2700 series all in one printer (HP DeskJet 2724) and I don't know the printer PIN. I tried 12345678 but it didn't work.

I receive this message:

"A custom printer password has been set. Enter the password or contact your IT administrator to access the printer's web interface."

How can I reset it?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

The PIn can be found on a label at the cartridge access area. (open the cartridge access door)

Hope that helps!

I have tried that as well and it didn't work.

Is there a way to reset the admin password?

Hi,

Let's try to get the printer connected to the network and then access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) to try a Restore network defaults.

Connect to wireless using the Wifi Direct method

Once connected (Blue LED solid), print an Info page by pressing on the "i" button.

Note the IP address and key in the IP address into an Internet Browser (Chrome or Internet Explorer)

There may be a prompt that it is not safe but go to "Advanced" and proceed to the IP address.

In EWS, go to "Settings", > select "Restore Defaults" to choose the option for Factory resets

Hope that helps!

Hi, I tried your solution but when I clicked on the factory restore it asked for a user custom password to continue.

I tried "admin", "12345678" and the one on the label but none of them worked.

I don't remember creating any new password but it's been a long time since I bought it, so I am not sure.

How can I reset the password?

Hi @Val_1
Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you need the password to connect the printer to the network.

If you are referring to the wi-fi Direct password, then I suggest that you print the Printer Information Page. On the printer's control panel, press the Information button (i) to print the Printer Information Page. This page will have the wi-fi direct password.
You may also refer to this link to print using wi-fi direct: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1841315-1637332-16

Let me know if this helps.
Take care and have a nice day.

Hi, thank you for your reply but it is not what I'm looking for.

There is a password for the EWS, for example to access this page that the other member previously attached:

greenturtle_1-1666793629458.png

I don't have access to all those printer settings because of that password. The one on the label inside the printer doesn't work, neither "12345678" nor "admin".

I receive this message:

"A custom printer password has been set. Enter the password or contact your IT administrator to access the printer's web interface."

I don't remember creating any password.

In other people's queries hp employees have sent private messages to the users with instructions to reset the specific printer, as it is unique for each model.  Do you have any instructions on how to reset my Deskjet 2724?

Thank you
