I have a ARM based system and a HP Envy 4500 printer.  The HP printer app does not load.  Can anyone help with a link to drivers for this printer or a work around for the app please?

Hi @johnlong76, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Unfortunately, the HP Smart app isn't fully compatible with ARM-based systems. However, there are a few workarounds you can try:

Use the Built-in Windows Drivers (Basic Print and Scan)

  • Windows often includes basic drivers for many HP printers. To install:
    1. Connect your HP Envy 4500 printer via USB or Wi-Fi.
    2. Open Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
    3. Click Add a printer or scanner and let Windows detect it.
    4. If found, click Install and try printing.

Use Windows Fax and Scan / Paint for Scanning

  • If scanning is an issue, try using:
    • Windows Fax and Scan (Search for it in Start Menu).
    • Microsoft Paint (Open Paint → File → From Scanner or Camera).

Try HP Universal Print Drivers (UPD)

  • HP offers Universal Print Drivers, which may work for printing, but scanning features might be limited.
  • Download from HP:

Use HP Print Service on Mobile (If Wi-Fi Printing Needed)

  • If printing from Windows is difficult, you can try using an Android/iOS device with the HP Print Service Plugin to print via Wi-Fi.

Check for Alternative ARM-Compatible Apps

  • Try third-party print utilities like PrintHand or PaperCut Mobility Print if the HP Smart app doesn't work.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
