Will my HP Laserjet Pro MFP 127fw work with an ARM laptop?

Hi @Jacks222,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 127fw should work with an ARM-based Windows laptop, but it depends on how it's set up:

1. Network Printing (Recommended)

Since the 127fw connects over Wi‑Fi or Ethernet, you can use it via standard network printing protocols, such as IPP, AirPrint, Mopria, or HP Web Services, without needing a printer-specific ARM driver.

How to Set It Up:

  • Connect the printer to the same network as the ARM laptop.
  • On the laptop, go to Windows Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, then click Add device.
  • Windows should automatically detect and install a basic driver via the network.

No ARM-specific driver is usually required for everyday tasks like printing and scanning over Wi‑Fi.

2. Using HP Universal Print Driver (UPD)

HP’s Universal Print Driver may provide enhanced features and improved compatibility across different platforms, including ARM Windows devices. It doesn’t require printer-specific drivers and can help ensure full functionality.

Important Compatibility Notes:

  • HP's full-featured software packages (like HP Smart Scan-on-PC) may not fully work on ARM laptops if they require Intel-only components.
  • However, basic printing and scanning over the network typically work just fine using either:
    1. Windows’ built-in network printer support or
    2. The Universal Print Driver.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi,

Yes, your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 127fw will work with an ARM-based laptop. Since it is listed on the Mopria compatibility page, you can use IPP (Internet Printing Protocol) drivers for printing. For scanning, the device supports eSCL, which allows you to scan over the network without needing special drivers.
