Hi @Jacks222,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 127fw should work with an ARM-based Windows laptop, but it depends on how it's set up:
1. Network Printing (Recommended)
Since the 127fw connects over Wi‑Fi or Ethernet, you can use it via standard network printing protocols, such as IPP, AirPrint, Mopria, or HP Web Services, without needing a printer-specific ARM driver.
How to Set It Up:
- Connect the printer to the same network as the ARM laptop.
- On the laptop, go to Windows Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Printers & scanners, then click Add device.
- Windows should automatically detect and install a basic driver via the network.
No ARM-specific driver is usually required for everyday tasks like printing and scanning over Wi‑Fi.
2. Using HP Universal Print Driver (UPD)
HP’s Universal Print Driver may provide enhanced features and improved compatibility across different platforms, including ARM Windows devices. It doesn’t require printer-specific drivers and can help ensure full functionality.
- Download the Universal Print Driver (UPD) from HP Universal Print Driver Series for Windows Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.
- Install it and point it to your 127fw on the network.
- While HP continues working on ARM-specific drivers, UPD is your best option for consistent performance.
Important Compatibility Notes:
- HP's full-featured software packages (like HP Smart Scan-on-PC) may not fully work on ARM laptops if they require Intel-only components.
- However, basic printing and scanning over the network typically work just fine using either:
- Windows’ built-in network printer support or
- The Universal Print Driver.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
