Hi @Andr34,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To resolve the issue with adding ARM drivers for HP printers on Windows Server 2022 in Print Management, especially when using HP Smart Universal Printing Driver (SUPD) Arm64 V4, and ensuring that ARM Surface devices can automatically receive these drivers from the Print Server without manual installation, you can follow these steps:
Verify Driver Compatibility: Ensure that the HP Smart Universal Printing Driver (SUPD) Arm64 V4 is compatible with Windows Server 2022. Check the HP website or contact HP support for compatibility information.
Update Windows Server and Printer Firmware: Make sure that Windows Server 2022 is up-to-date with the latest updates and patches. Also, check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP printers.
Check Architecture Compatibility: Ensure that the driver you are attempting to install is designed for ARM64 architecture. Sometimes, driver misidentification or download errors can lead to incorrect versions being used.
Use HP's Universal Print Driver: If specific drivers for ARM are not working, consider using HP's Universal Print Driver for Windows, if not already. Check for an ARM-compatible version of this universal driver.
Manual Driver Installation and Sharing:
- Try manually installing the ARM driver on the server by using the "Add Printer" wizard in Print Management, selecting "Have Disk," and navigating to the driver location.
- Once the printer is installed on the server with the correct ARM driver, go to the printer properties and share the printer. This allows client computers to download the appropriate drivers from the Print Server.
Configure Group Policy for Automatic Installation:
- Use Group Policy to automate the installation of printer drivers on client computers. This involves configuring the "Point and Print Restrictions" policy under Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Printers to allow users to install drivers from the Print Server without requiring administrative credentials.
Consult Microsoft Documentation: Review Microsoft's documentation on managing printers in Windows Server environments, focusing on ARM architecture considerations.
Consider Compatibility Layers: If direct ARM support is problematic, explore if any compatibility layers or emulation modes are available on Windows Server 2022 that might allow ARM devices to use x64 or x86 drivers as a temporary workaround.
Check Print Server Logs and Event Viewer: Look for specific error messages or codes when attempting to add the drivers, which can provide more insight into the issue.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue with adding ARM drivers for your HP printers on Windows Server 2022, ensuring seamless driver distribution to ARM Surface devices through the Print Server.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

V4 drivers must be on the endpoint before installation and are not installed from the server as was the case with older V3 drivers. So you will need to make sure that the driver files exist on the surface device before you try to connect.

Thanks for reply, but if I install driver on the endpoint I lose usefulness to have a print server.
Did I download wrong driver? Which are universal driver that I need to dowload so ARM computer that are connecting to server can download driver from that server to be able to print ?

You do not need to install on the endpoint, you just need to make sure the driver files are on the endpoint so they can be located.

Rachel571, these standard messages don't help. Seems like you are speaking with someone that is not from IT. I already tried all suggested thing that you wrote before try to write here.

Repairatrooper, so it works differently from drivers for x86 system where you install driver on print server and when a x86 system connect to print server, thise on send driver to endpoint.
I just need to locate ARM driver on endpoint and when I will try to connect to print server it will works ?

Use the HP Smart Universal Printer Driver, full support for ARM based hardware. While a newer driver with a published list of compatible printers that is small, I have found support for most products pretty good. I think that the list is small because they are testing for 100% compatibility and have not tested all printers yet.

@Andr34Does not work is not very detailed. What happened? Did you get an error message? Have you read the documentation in the Printer Administrator Resource Kit (PARK) that you can download from the driver site?
