HP Envy 6400

We're trying to connect the HP Smart app to our HP Envy 6400 via its direct WIFI network, in order to clean its print heads and get it working again. To do that, we need its WIFI password. That seems to only be available via printing a page using the i button, but we can't print that page because the print heads need cleaning! Just get a blank page!

Does anyone have any clues as to how we might find that password by other means? It doesn't appear to be printed on the sticker on the back, nor does it seem to be in any of the info that came with the printer. So we're stuck in a Catch 22: can't clean the print heads without printing a page, can't print a page because the print heads need cleaning...

Thanks very much to anyone who can help!

@mr_ig, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

You can try connecting the printer to your computer via a USB cable (if you have one available) and use the HP Smart app.

Alternatively, you could try getting the IP address of the printer, then access the printer’s internal settings via a web browser by entering the ip address in the browser, where the Wi-Fi direct password may be displayed.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
