My printer will not allow me to print. It is saying there is an issue with my account but I just bought this printer.

Hi @ladybug021,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your new printer is not allowing you to print and is showing an account-related issue. Let’s go through steps to resolve this.

Check the HP account used on the printer

Open the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app.

Confirm which HP account is currently signed in. Sometimes the printer is automatically linked to a different or temporary account.

Sign out and sign in again

In HP Smart or the printer’s web services menu, sign out of any account.

Sign back in using your new HP account that you created when purchasing the printer.

Enable Web Services / Instant Ink (if applicable)

Some printers require Web Services to be active for account authentication.

From the control panel, enable Web Services and follow the prompts.

Check internet connection

Make sure the printer has a stable Wi-Fi connection.

Even if the printer can print locally, account verification often requires internet access.

Remove and re-add the printer in HP Smart

Delete the printer from the HP Smart app.

Re-add it using the new account credentials and ensure it appears online.

Verify default printer on your computer

Open Devices & Printers → Right-click the printer → Set as default.

This ensures print jobs are sent to the correct account-linked printer.

Check for firmware updates

Use HP Smart or the printer control panel to install any available updates.

Outdated firmware can sometimes block new account logins.

I hope this helps.
