HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 wide AIO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Please read the english text in the post later below

Neuer HP OfficeJet Pro 7740  wide AIO

Leerlauf-Arbeit.

Wo liegt das Problem? Wie lösen? HP-Spezialisten ansetzen.

Warte dringend auf die Lösung

Vielen Dank für echte Hilfe!

New HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 wide AIO

At the end of the installation, the message "Unable to connect" appears with explanations, a repeat button and a link to complete the activation later. With the link everything starts all over again. LOOP. Until the error occurs, the installation of the version with full functionality seems to run normally.

   OJ7740_Full_WebPack_40.12.1161_1.exe

At the bottom, you will find the foto and screenshot of the error-message in german an english.

I've tried everything (I hope). Also checked with HP Smart, HP Easy Start, without firewall, router and cable, and before that repeatedly uninstalled and deleted.

In the Control Panel - Devices - Printer the fax appears to be correctly available, but the printer says "No driver available".

The connection from the PC to the Internet is ok. The connection from the PC to the printer is also ok. because I can access the printer IP and the printer in the browser, see the ink levels, make settings and print tests.

I suspect a (new) problem at the end of the installation. The connection to the operating system is apparently not found resp. the activation does not succeed (no longer).

HP supporters have been chatting remotely for hours.

Goal: Installation with full-function software, for several PCs in LAN with Ethernet cable with Internet router, which can also use WLAN for PCs that connect to the network in this way. The printer is on the ethernet cable.

PS: Tests with a printer on the WLAN (Wi-Fi) also showed the same problem.

Additional problem: Installation is recommended with HP Smart. The printer should can do anything with it. Therefore installed on the 1st PC with HP Smart. However, it lacks some functions that are important to us (scan with OCR and more). The documents should also be clearer. Idle work.

Where is the problem?

I have found a post with the tip to run PRINT AND SCAN DOCTOR. I tryed to do so. Not possible.

NOTE:  IF  PRINT AND SCAN DOCTOR WOULD HELP, I WOULD BE HAPPY.  BUT THE ACTUAL VERSION 5.6.1 DOES NOT WORK. IT ASKS FOR ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS, EVEN I AM ADMINISTRATOR.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand that you are getting an Unable to connect error message after installing the printer driver.
T
o provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Are you able to make copies from the printer?
  • Are you able to print from other devices?
  • Are the printer and pc connected to the same wireless network?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo_Lake

My answers to your questons:

  • Are you able to make copies from the printer?   YES
    • Are you able to print from other devices?     YES
  • Are the printer and pc connected to the same wireless network?  YES

My dear, please read my explanation again.

I can

   .  copy,

.  connect with browser and IP and then I see into EWS, make print test, Status say "Connected"

   .  install a driver for 7400 basic

In Windows - System - Printers -

   -  Fax is ready

   -  Printer has the notice:  No driver available

All is in the same LAN. It ist a very new printer instead old HP 7610.

Router, cables are tested and OK. I tryed without firewall.

I think, it is something at the end of the install-process with does not find the connection to Windows 10 (updated!!!).

BUT  I NEED the Full-Function-Driver for this HP OfficeJet Pro 7740.

Hope YOU or the special Expert of HP can help to install.

Many thanks.

Hello

is there anybody who can help.

Thanks.

You described EXACTLY what I went through for months. HP was no help. From my own investigation I concluded that Windows had broken the HP driver but I couldn't get anyone at HP to even try fixing it or admit they had a problem. I regularly update Windows so when the last update came out, I applied it, hoping that whatever Windows had done would be reversed or fixed. Suddenly the printer started working again from that one laptop that couldn't print (I had 3 other devices that worked just fine with it). I can only credit the Windows Update, because HP provided zero actual help, and I had to pay US$49 plus US$14.99 up front to even get to a level 2 technician. Even that person was unable to help.

I wish I could say I had found the solution, but I did not; only updating Windows helped. Perhaps HP DID find the error and fixed it, but they never admitted it to me.

Hello my dear Echo_Lake

You are a HP employe, are you?

Pleease read my answers on 08-21-2021 above - AND the descriptions. All is written and explained.

The installation or setup of the very new HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 wide AIO has an error near the end. There is a problem to activate  and connect to Windows 10 pro (21h1). Windows shows for the printer "no driver available" but Fax seems OK. And there is the same printer in the list of Bluetooth.

There is a ticket at Support - We are waiting for the real solution.

As HP Expert you can surely send the problem to the special IT-programmer, do you?

Soon. Tell me when you have done.

Best regards
