OfficeJet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have 4 OfficeJetPro 8710 printers at different locations/networks. When I open HP Printer Assistant, it prompts me with the "Select A Device" dialog to pick which printer I'd like connect to. I've edited the printer device names to uniquely identify each of the printers. So I can select the unique printer associated with the location and network where I'm located at that particular time. However, only 3 of my printers show up in in the "Select A Device" dialog. What is the procedure to add the 4th printer so it can be selected in the "Select A Device" dialog when I open HP Printer Assistant?

I answered this question myself with some experimentation after no immediate replies from the community.

1) Ensure you're connected to the network with the new printer desired to be added to the HP Printer Assistant's "Select a Device" dialog. I had previously added the printer to my computer manually through Windows 7 Devices & Printers dialog (not HP Printer Assistant). So I had been able to select it as an available printer to print on my network. However, I wasnt easily able to use other features available in Printer Assistant like scanning.

2) In HP Printer Assistant, select the Tools tab > Device Setup & Software > Connect a new device

3) Select the appropriate connection method for your printer, then allow HP Printer Assistant to locate available printers  on your network.

4) Select the printer from the list of printers discovered. There was only one printer discovered in my case, since I only had the one network printer connected to my network.

5) This will install the new network printer to HP Printer Assistant's list of available devices. It will also install a new printer connection in the Windows 7 Devices & Printers list.

6) If the printer previously had a printer connection in the Windows 7 Devices & Printers list (since I'd previous done the manual/generic install), delete the old Windows printer connection and rename the new connection appropriately.

7) Close and restart HP Printer Assistant. The new printer will now appear in the "Select a Device" dialog upon opening HP Printer Assistant
