I want to add a printing shortcut for envelopes.  Cannot find out how to do it anywhere on website or online.  There is no option to ADD or SAVE print shortcut.  Can only use the ones provided by HP.  Others have said they can add but I cannot see how.  Thank you.

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand the printing shortcut needs to be added to your device,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Are you referring to the shortcuts on printer or the computer?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

(If it's on your computer & the changes are locked)

  • Settings - Printers & Preferences - HP6830 - Printing Preferences - Printing Shortcuts

  • The locks still show up but any changes you make will become your permanent defaults when you click the "Apply" button

To Create a printing shortcut

  1. On the File menu in the software program, click Print.

  2. Select the driver, and then click Properties or Preferences.

  3. Click the Printing Shortcuts tab.

  4. Select the print settings that you want to use. Click Save As.

  5. In the Printing Shortcuts box, type a name for the shortcut.

  6. Click OK.

Use printing shortcuts

  1. On the File menu in the software program, click Print.

  2. Select the driver, and then click Properties or Preferences.

  3. Click the Printing Shortcuts tab.

  4. Select the shortcut that you want to use from the Printing Shortcuts box.

  5. Click OK.

   NOTE:

To use printer-driver default settings, select Factory Default.

Keep me posted,

For I shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again,

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Your suggestions do NOT work.  It just takes you back to the default printing shortcuts.  You CANNOT modify the shortcuts.  AND envelopes are not offered as a paper type.  HP keeps giving me the same set  of instructions but they do not work.  I assume by "software" you mean the HP software.  Need more detail about how to get there, because it just keeps sending me to the defaults, and no, cannot change any to envelopes.

FRUSTRATING

@meredithmcd

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

Let me try simplifying the steps to help you out, considering it's getting frustrating:

  • Go to printing preferences > Printing shortcuts,
  • Select your settings under paper sizes, sources, etc.. & Click on save as (shown in the image below)

  • Then, Type the name of the shortcut and click OK to create the short cut you need.

  • This is how it would look, when done:

If this doesn't do the trick for you, I suggest you Contact HP, so that a tech could take control of your device and help via remote session.
