HP Officejet 5740

When I try to add my printer HP Officejet 5740 my computer finds it, then when I say add it, it fails.  I have also tried putting the WPS number of the router, failed.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties adding your HP Officejet 5740 printer to your computer. There could be several reasons why the process is failing. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

 

  • Check the connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer via a USB cable or that it's connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer if it's a wireless printer.
  • Restart devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Restart your computer and the printer, and then try adding the printer again.
  • Update drivers: Outdated or incompatible printer drivers can cause problems. Visit the HP support website (https://support.hp.com/) and download the latest drivers for your HP Officejet 5740 model. Install the drivers on your computer and then attempt to add the printer once again.
  • Remove previous installations: If you've previously attempted to install the printer but encountered errors, it's possible that remnants of those installations are causing conflicts. Uninstall any previous printer software or drivers from your computer, restart, and then try adding the printer again.
  • Firewall and antivirus settings: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can interfere with printer setup.
