@Hilly17, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To reset the admin password on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148fdw, follow these steps:

Method 1: Reset via Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Find the Printer’s IP Address:

  • Print a Network Configuration Report by pressing Wi-Fi + Cancel buttons together.
  • Look for the IPv4 address in the report.

Access EWS:

  • Open a web browser and enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar.

Reset Admin Password:

  • Go to Settings > Security > Administrator Settings.
  • Look for an option to reset the password.

Method 2: Factory Reset (Service Menu)

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Power it on and immediately press & hold the Cancel button until the Ready light starts blinking.
  • Release the button when the printer restarts.
  • The printer should now be reset to factory defaults, removing the admin password.

Method 3: NVRAM Reset (Full Reset)

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Press and hold the Right Arrow and Cancel buttons.
  • Turn on the printer while holding the buttons.
  • When the Permanent Storage Initialization message appears, release the buttons.
  • The printer will reset to factory settings, including clearing the admin password.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
