How do I reset the administrator password that is needed to log into the security settings on the unit's webpage?  The "factory reset" menu option on the printer's display interface panel does NOT reset this! I cannot find any guidance in the owner's manual

Hi @cblah361

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To reset the administrator password for your printer's web interface, you typically have a couple of options. Since the factory reset option on the printer's display doesn’t affect the web interface password, here are some steps you can try:

1. Default Passwords:

  • First, try using default passwords that are commonly used by the manufacturer. Check your printer's manual or the manufacturer's website for the default administrator password.

2. Web Interface Access:

  • If you can still access the printer’s web interface:
    • Enter the default password if you haven’t changed it before.
    • Look for a settings option to reset or change the password. This can usually be found under Security or Administrator Settings.

3. Perform a Network Reset:

  • Some printers have a network reset option that may restore settings to factory defaults, including passwords. This option is usually available through the printer's display settings.
  • Note that this might require you to reconfigure the network settings.

4. Documentation:

  • Review the printer’s user manual or any online documentation provided by the HP. They may have specific instructions for resetting the administrator password.

Please help us with the Printer serial number or the product number on a private message for further assistance.
