There is an issue with the Deskjet 720c that causes the spooler to crash in Vista x64 or Windows 7 x64.   This will require a fix from HP.

Hi Jon,

I'm having a similar problem not able to print. I've tried everything including what you suggested.  I have downloaded the driver from the hp site also but to no avail.

I had a virus and my tech installed windows 7.  I don't know what version  I had before only it was windows xp.  In the list of printers to add a driver, mine isn't listed.  I have a Photosmart 2610 all-in-one.  Is there another that's compatible?  My original disc says Officejet 7300/7400 and Photosmart 2600/2700.  I tried the officejet (listed) but that doesn't work either.  When I try to install by the disc, it quits.  I have no other options when it gets to a screen saying "if you can't connect the device, install and connect later".  I tried that also but it still doesn't  work.  Help!!!!

Thanks,

Vicki

For the Photosmart 2610 download the drivers from HP's website here.  If you are connecting by USB then disconnect the USB cable before running the install program.  I am using driver listed above for printing and scanning in Windows 7.

I just joined the forum and read what you said on not being able to get a print.

My situation is a bit different. Origianlly I connected the HP Laserjet M1522 MFP series PCL6, directly to a Dell desktop  ( with Windows XP ) using a usb cable and it worked fine for last 10 months. Recently, I wanted to be able to print from a netbook so I removed & reinstall HP printer from the Dell pc  and connected it to the  to the network router ( LynkSys  Wireless G 2.4 GHz) with a new ethernet cable.I was able to run a test page from the Dell pc. I was also able to scan from the pc.

Then, to install it on the new netbook ( Acer with Windows 7), went to the HP site and downloded the driver and was able to print a test page.

So everything was fine for a while ot so it appeared. Now, cannot print a test page from either computer and cannot scan from the Dell.

The router has 4 cable positions so I moved the HP printer-cable to all 4 posiitions, relocating the internet connection as well ( for the Dell, which is thru an ethernet cable). The  internet continues to be ok so it is not the router outlet.

I went to the HP web site to see if maybe there is something I can download to fix this but then I relaized that even if I find it, I do not have a  good connection to the router ( or the network)  as neither the netbook wireless or thew Dell wired connection works.

Can you help me on this?

There is a patch that corrects the issue for the Deskjet 710c in 64 bit Vista or Windows 7  available here.

OK, if your router is not working then printing through the router will not work either.  I would start by resetting the router, typically done by  unplugging the power for 30 seconds or so and then reconnecting it.  Next go to the router's web page and make sure the configuration settings are correct.

You may be better off posting in the networking forum until you get the router issues resolved.

I am yet another HP owner who is having the same problem where the driver and printer install correctly, the print job goes is sent to the printer, but no document appears in the queue. Any help would be appreciated. I have Photosmart C7280 All-in-One.

  • Which version did you start with? I started with Vista 32-bit Home Premium.
  • Which version of Windows 7 did you end up installing?  I upgraded to Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium.
  • What hp printer was installed in old version of windows?  Same printer - C7280
  • Where did the installed software for the printer come from?  Downloaded from support page

If CD if you can find it now what is the number written on it?  n/a

If web download approximatly when you downloaded it? I reinstalled the driver and patch for Windows 7 about a week ago.

  • How is the printer connected to your PC? Wireless Network
  • Any other printers installed on your PC?  Dell 1720dn
  • Lastly the version of the printer driver that is currently installed that will not enable you to print? Driver version 13.1.0 and patch Version 1.0
I tried the workaround on the first post and I am able to print with this workaround, but I lose all functionality of the printer, such as duplexing and other preferences. I'd like to find a way to fix this. Thanks for any help.

The duplexer problem has a fix in this thread

Could you also explan what other features you have lost?
