Printing from the PC where printer is connected locally now works.

Printing from all other PCs in LAN still fails: both Windows 7 german and  Vista german.

System Event on Windows 7 client PC says:

spoolsv.exe failure

...x64\3\UNIDRVUI.DLL load error code 0xc1

thank you very much

The patch I mentioned before needs to be applied to each computer running 64 bit Vista or Windows 7.  Apply the patch as described in this post.

HP DeskJet 710C workhorse of a printer worked perfectly with my old IBM Thinkpad.  Got a new Thinkpad, Windows 7, 32 bit.  Have done lots of troubleshooting, uninstalled driver & package, etc. etc. Nothing works. Document go into the queque but nothing prints, not even a test page.  I would really appreciate a real solution.

Thank you for the post.  I followed these steps carefully.  HP 710C still does not work on Windows 7 32bit.  Used Jon W's post from 12/09; updated 1/10.  Nothing has worked.  I'm really mystified -- and need my trusty 710C to be working again, as it did without fail on old XP!

How is the printer connected?  The Deskjet 710c only had a parallel port but most recent computers have only USB posts.  Are you using a USB-parallel converter?  If so does it support WIndows 7?  What is the port setting for the Deskjet 710c?  (go to the Devices and Printers folder, right click on the 710c, Printer Properties, POrts and check which port is used).

Your advice didn't help me.   After clicking REMOVE DRIVER AND PACKAGE, this appeared:

hphpa1vst4wu.inf (x64)
This package contains the following driver(s) that are in use:
HP Photosmart 3100 series; This driver is used on:
   HP Photosmart 3100 series

The following driver(s) can not be deleted:

Driver HP Photosmart 3100 series (x64) is in use. It is used on:
    HP Photosmart 3100 series

The only option was to CANCEL. DELETE was grayed -- not clickable. So I'm back at Printer Server Properties with no place to go.

i just purchased an HP pavilion dv6 with windows 7, 64 bit OS.  When installing an HP LJ 1020 (with updated 64 bit drivers from HP), the print spooler automatically stops.  i've tried restarting the print spooler from Services, but the spooler stops immediately.  I've also tried uninstalling the printer and drivers and reinstalling ... but to no avail.  can anyone help?  i've also had the same problem with installing an HP officejet J6480 All-In-One.

I am seeing some posts with people saying that their printer is installed but when they try and print the print is spooled to the print spooler and then just disappears, or they are saying that they can print a test page from the HP software but nothing prints.

Most of these people seem to have migrated from another version of Windows to Windows 7, and they have various printers and configurations.

We have found through testing that this fix works.

How to fix it

  1. Disconnect the printer if it is connected using a usb cable.
  2. Click on the  icon and select All Programs.
  3. Select the HP folder, then select the printer and select Uninstall
  4. Once the uninstall is complete select Devices and Printers
  5. Click on another printer or the Microsoft XPS Document Writer
  6. Click on Printer server properties in the top menu
  7. Choose Drivers in the Installed printer drivers select the printer that was uninstalled in step 3.
  8. Click on Remove and when asked choose Remove driver and driver package and click on ok.
  9. Install the Windows 7 software for the printer.

I would like to say a big thank you to all those people who have posted to this thread with details of their installations etc.  This information has help me formulate this fix.

Thanks

If this sounds like your issue:

After installing the product on a network, you turn the computer off, and then on, and the product loses functionality. The product no longer prints and the product icon disappears from the Devices and Printers menu in Windows 7 (64-bit).

Try this fix:
