My printer will not print in colour. The 'Print in grayscale' is off in the default printer setting on my MacBook Air. The print overview screen shows the print colour option as selected but the printed docs are always in blck and white.

Can you help, please?

Hi @AndyB65400,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the color cartridges are installed correctly and have sufficient ink. If the cartridges are empty, low, or improperly seated, it may affect color printing.

Print Quality Settings: Verify that the print quality settings in the printer software on your MacBook Air are set to allow color printing. Sometimes, printer dialog boxes have settings that can convert output to grayscale even if the Mac settings indicate otherwise.

Update Printer Drivers: Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed. Outdated or incorrect drivers can affect the printer’s functionality. You can download drivers from the HP Support website.

Reset Printer Settings: Sometimes resetting the printer settings can restore color printing capabilities. You might perform a factory reset on the printer or reset printer settings via the HP Smart app or another configuration software.

Check Application Settings: Some applications have their own print settings. Make sure the application you're printing from allows color printing.

Firmware Updates: Consider updating the printer firmware as there might be updates that address color printing issues. Firmware can be updated via the HP Support site.

Test Print from Another Application: Try printing a document from a different application (e.g., Word, PDF viewer) to determine if the issue persists across different programs.

Printer Maintenance: Run the printer’s maintenance or diagnostic functions, such as print head cleaning, alignment, or color test pages, via the printer’s control panel.

I hope this helps.
