HP DeskJet 2722 All-in-One Printer
  1. Hp DeskJet 2722 Printer   I inserted new printer ink cartridges.  An Icon appeared in my messages display on the printer saying I needed to finish setting up my printer so I can print documents from my smartphone or tablet while away from home.  I do not want to print wirelessly or remotely. I never have.  i have always (for 4 years) just printed from my computer which is hardwired to the printer.  But I cannot get rid of the message on my printer display and I cannot print documents from my computer.  How can I avoid setting up wireless printing and get back to printing from my computer?

To resolve the issue with your HP DeskJet 2722 printer not allowing you to print after inserting new ink cartridges, and the persistent setup message, follow these steps.

 

Cancel Wireless Setup: Since you do not wish to set up wireless printing, try cancelling the wireless setup directly on the printer:

  • Access the printer's control panel.
  • Look for a "Cancel" or "Back" option related to the wireless setup prompt.

Reset the Printer:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Connection Settings: Ensure that your computer is set to print via the wired connection:

  • On your computer, navigate to "Devices and Printers" or "Printers & Scanners."
  • Make sure the HP DeskJet 2722 is set as your default printer.
  • Remove any wireless versions of the printer listed.

Update or Reinstall Drivers: Sometimes, outdated or corrupted drivers can cause issues:

  • Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers for your model.
  • Uninstall the current printer drivers from your computer, then reinstall the fresh drivers you downloaded.

Use the HP Smart App: Even though you want to avoid wireless printing, the HP Smart app can help manage printer settings. You can try:

  • Opening the HP Smart app and ensuring your printer is detected.
  • If the app prompts for a wireless setup, look for options to disable or skip the setup process.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: This tool can diagnose and fix printing issues:

  • Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP support website.
  • Run the application and follow the prompts to resolve any detected issues.

Factory Reset the Printer: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer, but note that this will erase all current settings:
