Envy Photo 7855
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Specs:

HP AiO Printer Remote for Envy Photo 7855, using Windows 10

I've seen this issue pop up before, but always before 2017. Not recent. I'm running an HP Envy laptop, working from home during the pandemic, zero access to my office computer or printer. This is my ONLY option. I bought the printer because of the pandemic, last February. It's July.

I don't need to print often, only super important and urgent documents, so this makes the issue extremely frustrating, and the fact that "solutions" are random ad hoc affairs infuriating.

When I need to print, the ONLY way to do so is via the impossibly unhelpful app. When I open the app, it shows the blue splash screen, a second or two of the spinning dot circle, then it immediately crashes/closes.

Attempted solutions:

1. changed printer from wifi to wired.

2. reset the app. This allowed me to view the intro screens (3 info bits), then it immediately resumed the splash screen/crash sequence.

3. uninstalled/reinstalled the app. This worked ONCE, allowing me to print (last April). But it's July and I'm back to the crash cycle.

4. turned off all firewalls. Did nothing.

At this moment, I feel as if I wasted non-refundable money on total garbage. Usually HP is impressive (I've been a faithful HP user for decades). But that I can't even manually print, rather am FORCED to use an app that doesn't work, is ABOMINABLE.

Alternatives: NO I cannot use a phone for this. My ONLY option is via my HP Envy Laptop, which SHOULD work, one would think, with an HP Envy printer.

Has ANYONE had a similar problem, and a CONSISTENT fix?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Use this link for details on using the HP Print and Scan doctor: https://hp.care/2JyaC93

If the issue still persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Let me know if this helps.
